Call for Entertainers & Volunteers

The Hillman City Business Association (HCBA) and Classic Swagger Car Club are hosting the 2nd Annual Hillman City Classic Car Show on Saturday, August 12, 2017. The car show, which is part of the larger Rainier Valley Heritage Parade & Festival, is a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate the unique charm and character of our neighborhood while highlighting the businesses, organizations, and individuals that are the heart and soul of it.

We are calling upon YOU, our neighbors, to contribute your time and talent to help make this the most fun, engaging, creative, and Hillman City-esque festival it can be.

Here are the ways that you, your organization, or your business can be part of the action:

1. Booth Hosts

HCBA will provide a 10×10’ popup tent with a table and 2 chairs that YOU can fill with fun! Booth Hosts will provide a kid/family oriented activity with a focus on active engagement. Ideas include carnival games, art making, face painting, karaoke, bobbing for apples, making balloon animals, and more. Booth hosts may decorate/brand their tents and may also hand out promotional materials for their business/organization/event/etc. Booth hosts will arrive between 10:30am
and 11:00am, then be present for the festival from 11:30am to 3:30pm. Feel free to staff your booth with your employees/volunteers/friends and break the four-hour festival up into shorter shifts.

2. Entertainment

Hillman City’s got TALANT and we want to see YOU shine at the car show! We won’t have a stage so we’d like to see entertainment that can be immersed into the festival…entertainment that can move around…stilt walkers, hula hoop tricks, marching bands, drill teams, dancers, b-boys/b-girls, steppers, acapella groups, bands that can play unplugged sets…there is a lot of room for creativity here. Entertainers will be scheduled intermittently between 11:30am and 3:30pm. If selected, we will do our best to accommodate your preferred performance time.

3. Volunteers

Have a few hours to spare in service of your neighborhood? We need both pre-event volunteers and day of event volunteers. Pre-event volunteers will help canvass the neighborhood to help spread the word about the car show. Day of event volunteers will help with setup as well as a little bit of car show promotion at the Rainier Valley Heritage Day Parade. Exact volunteer shift times are variable and TBD.
